Perseverance! Yes, it’s my word of the year. I am really happy to write to you today about my joy of living in God’s blessings these past weeks.
Since January 4, 2017, I have changed many things in my life; these changes had a big impact on my health and an incredible effect on my chronic illnesses; I am feeling so much better! I will share all about this with you in another blog.
I praise God that his Spirit lead me during my darkest moments of chronic pain. With my results that are so conclusive after more than 74 days, I cannot do otherwise but glorify God. There is such a big improvement that even my specialist is convinced that I should pursue with this lifestyle!
Here is a definition of the word perseverance that I like: continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure or opposition: the action or condition or an instance of persevering.1
Despite the fact that this is a great definition, for me it lacks the essence of why I am able to keep my perseverance: it is only because of the Holy Spirit that I am capable and not because of my efforts and determination.
Of course I do all I can to work and achieve the efforts I put in, yet I know fully well that it is only by the grace of God and his Spirit that I can achieve that. Left to myself, honestly, I would have lacked perseverance a longed time ago.
Why? Because it is extremely difficult and my sinful heart would have abandoned!
Many times I lack courage.
Some days I just don’t even desire to have perseverance!
It’s difficult to be constant and to remember “why” I made this choice.
Perseverance = action and engagement, which isn’t always easy!
The Spirit helps me to keep my ideas in line and to put my priorities in the right place.
I am extremely grateful for the fact that I have gained some of my health back and I will be sharing with you about that soon; I know that others suffer from chronic illnesses and it could be helpful for them.
Till then I leave you with the following question:
Where do you need perseverance in your day-to-day life?
